At the Iberian Festival Awards held this past Saturday in Porto Cala Mijas won Best New Festival and Best International Live Performance for the Artic Monkeys’ splendid live performance. These awards recognize the excellence and success of the Costa del Sol’s international festival.
Best New Festival highlights the most innovative and novel festivals and recognizes the festival’s creativity and originality, as well as its ability to attract and retain a diverse and demanding audience while Best Live Performance recognizes the best performance in a festival by an international artist. The award went to the British group Arctic Monkeys, who inaugurated the Cala Mijas festival as well as its venue, Sonora Mijas on September 1, 2022.
These two awards can be added to the festival’s debut edition triumphs alongside the ‘Breakout Festival’ award received at Premios Fest and its recent entry into the B Corp community. These awards encourage the Organisation to continue working on Cala Mijas 2023, with dates already announced for August 31, September 1 and 2, and featuring artists as outstanding as Florence + The Machine, The Strokes, and Arcade Fire. The festival will continue to be committed to a complete, sustainable, original, and innovative musical experience.
